Void-PPC was a Linux distro developed by Foxlet, and previously getting help from Techflash. It has a GitHub page, and no official website. Progress on it has seemingly stopped going much of anywhere, and many issues have still not been fixed.

Previously, Void-PPC was previously the primary distro shipped with Wii-Linux, however it had several issues:

  • Due to the lack of a central web server and building infrastructure, Techflash was building the entire package repository on wii-linux.org
  • Several applications (Python3, Java, and more) did not function correctly once installed
  • Several applications (apache2, git, nginx, and more) were not buildable due to issues
  • The package management and service control mechanisms were confusing to new users

Due to these issues, Techflash made the decision to eventually retire Void-PPC support in Wii-Linux, until further action is taken to make it more usable. He had not planned to make this decision immediately, but rather to slowly phase it out, in favor of the eventual release of ArchPOWER. However, due to a series of unfortunate events that led to all data stored on the wii-linux.org server being lost, he had to make the unfortunate choice to deprecate Void-PPC effective immediately, as all packages were now lost. This led to several months without a functioning distro for Wii-Linux.
