The Wii Family Edition is a cost reduced Wii model with some changes from the regular model, released in 2011.
Differences
Differences from the regular Wii model include
- Features that were removed:
- GameCube Controller and Memory Card ports
- Features that were changed:
- Button labels and logo on the front are printed in an horizontal layout rather than the usual vertical layout
- The console and bundled Wii Remote were released in different colors including the usual white
Limitations
- Limitations imposed by hardware:
- No ability to read GameCube discs (no support in the optical drive)
